Start with the wording and enforceability of the family agreement or judgment. Distinguish collecting an amount covered by the instrument from seeking reimbursement of a new expense that requires a separate finding. Review who was liable for the original bill, who contracted for any replacement service and whether the payment was requested, authorised or necessary under the applicable legal rule.
Build the reimbursement file
Keep the agreement or judgment, any enforcement ruling, the bills, proof of payment and communications giving notice of the expense. Link each amount to the covered period and the beneficiary. Articles 287 and 288 of Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025 address payment of another person's debt when the new Civil Transactions Law applies. Those rules must be distinguished from a new contract in the payer's own name. The nature of the claim determines the forum and the applicable time limits.
