Working with a law firm in Abu Dhabi
Clarify whether you need a consultation, document review, negotiations, preparation of submissions or representation before a court or another authority. These are different assignments. A request for initial advice does not itself define the scope of a later court appointment.
Agree the scope of representation and fees
The engagement should identify the matter, the stage covered, the work to be performed and the arrangements for communication. Ask separately whether appeals, enforcement, expert work, court fees or other expenses are included. Provide the complete documents and any urgent date at the outset. An engagement based on a clear scope is easier to assess than a price quoted without identifying the work.
Clarify the engagement before work starts
Identify the matter, service and procedural stage covered by the fee agreement. Ask whether document review, written submissions, attendance, expert proceedings, appeals and enforcement are included or require separate instructions. Compare proposals by the actual work offered and the person responsible for it.
Agree a practical reporting arrangement
Establish who will communicate with you, how documents should be supplied and what a file update should explain. Useful updates identify the present stage, next action, missing material and any existing deadline. If another claim or additional work arises, clarify the new scope and fees before giving further instructions.
